Serving as a member of an at-sea quick reaction security team. The security team is tasked with the protection of the Sea Based X Band radar (SBX-1), which is a U.S. Government Procured, contractor-operated semi-submersible vessel. This vessel is a component of the ground-based midcourse Defense element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System. Officers are required to maintain a current Secret security clearance, Level I Antiterrorism Certification, and arms certification on the following: 50 cal machine gun; M-60 machine gun; M-4 Carbine; Beretta 9mm; and AR-15 Assault Rifle. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Integrated Electronic Security System monitoring (CCure system); cargo freight inspections; roving security; access control; response to terrorism; sabotage; theft; general criminal acts; and unauthorized intruders. Also trained in: weapons retention/disarming; handcuffing; tactics; officer safety; Impact weapons; and surveillance/counter-surveillance.
